Strengths and Weaknesses of Sony Ericsson W300i

‘Sony Ericsson’ the name arouse some kind of feelings in you. You know that this brand offers everything keeping in mid customer needs and their capabilities. They have introduced Walkman series of phones with models like W800i’s, W850i and others. These are high end phones and are very expensive. Crowds like students and other low profile people may not want them for its costs. Hence Sony came up with another model for them in the Walkman series called Sony Ericsson W300i. This handset offers all the basics things and has incorporated attributes so that its users too can enjoy the taste of Walkman phones.

Its a little wonderful phone with clamshell design. This compact and lightweight phone has features which won’t enable you to bring down the stars but can do so much for you that you won’t expect much within this price bracket. Lets attentively look at the features of it and try to find out its weaknesses and strengths.

First of all these phone can roam with you around the globe due to its GSM quad band technology. Sony has done a commendable job with this model. Sony Ericsson W300i has a TFT screen with resolution of 128 x 160 pixels and 256K colours of images are displayed. The phone has 0.3 VGA megapixel camera to click some passionate moments with friends and other momentous events. The dimensions of the phone are 90 x 47 x 24 mm and it weighs around 94 gm only. You can set ringtones of the phone in any mode you like-MP3, or polyphonic. The phone has composer and download options. The phonebook has good capacity for contacts and you have options for photo call. It can record 30 missed, received, dialed calls record. The phone has an internal 20MB shared memory and is equipped with EDGE, HSCSD. There is Bluetooth technology but no WLAN. There is infra red port and USB port for connectivity to other devices. You can browse with WAP 2.0/xHTMl browser and listen live radio entertianment with the inbuilt FM radio with RDS. The best part of the phone is its talktime option with 9 hours.

With all these strengths we can see that the phone is quite user friendly. But Sony could have treated it a little better in areas of camera and other attributes to make it a more classy phone.

Sony Ericsson W810i – Quad Band Technology

The Sony Ericsson W810i Walkman(TM) is an amazing, appealing mobile phone. Its USP lies in the letter W i.e Walkman attached to it. It is synonymous with the gamut of musical extravaganza it gives. The slim and trim looking Sony Ericsson comes in a very stylish satin black coloured casing. It boasts of 2 Megapixel Camera with 4 x Zoom, VideoDJ(TM), Media Player, FM Radio RDS and 20mb Memory plus PRO Duo(TM) Memory.

Besides all these above mentioned cutting-edge features, the Sony Ericsson W810i is compatible with Quad Band Technology (GSM 850, 900, 1800 & 1900). What this technology is all about? What significance it carries with the numerical – 850, 900, 1800 & 1900?It has been commonly seen and it is a fact that average users do not pay attention to this technology, whether the phone they are possessing is compatible with this technology or not. It has been found they are much concerned about other technical aspects like camera, music system, memory etc..
No doubt all these specifications are important but other related aspects like technology and connectivity aspect cannot be sidelined at one stroke.

What is Quad Band Technology?

Quad band also known as quad-band or quadband, which is most commonly used to describe a mobile phone, literally means it supports four frequency bands.
In other words, a mobile phone tagged with quad-band technology means that it can operate in the following GSM frequency bands:

850 MHz (U.S.)

900 MHz (Europe)

1800 MHz (Europe)

1900 MHz (U.S.)

That is all about technological nitty-gritty. Now the million dollar question – what it benefits to the consumers and users of this phone, here in our case Sony Ericsson W810i?
Having more than one frequency in W810i, it enables roaming between different countries that peg the allowed transmission frequency at different values or to allow a better coverage in the same country.

Sony Ericsson W580i – Wrapped in Grey, Empowered with Multimedia

Another slider phone from the lineage of W-series of Sony Ericsson is flourishing in market of music phones. The W 580i white is a compact handset comprises of a large colour display that is visible in both slide open and slide closed positions. The small tilt at the bottom makes the sliding easier for the users.

The handset weighs 94grams which gives the Walkman music phone a slim and sleek feel and the handset is compact in size with measurements of 99 x 47 x 14 mm. The handset offers a vivid and energetic viewing experience as it comes with a 262,000 colour TFT screen with a high resolution of 240 x 320 pixels. Giving importance to jolly moments or the beauty of nature, the phone supports a 2 megapixel camera with 4 x digital zoom. With benefits like video streaming, video player and picture blogging in the video recording make the Sony Ericsson W580i even more thrilling and intuitive.

To highlight the Walkman series, the music player is enriched with an FM radio with RDS, and the handset is dedicated with solid sound effects like TrackID, PlayNow and Bluetooth Stereo (A2DP).
