Nokia 5310 Xpressmusic Review

April 17th, 2010

Nokia have recently been pushing more and more into the music phone market, a market that has for some time now been dominated by Sony Ericsson with their Walkman phone range. Nokia have definitely been making some headway, and one of their music dedicated phones in this market is the Nokia 5310 Xpressmusic.

The Nokia 5310 is a solid shaped mobile phone that measures 103.8 x 44.7 x 9.9 mm and weighs 70 grams. This is one of the lightest mobile phones around. The screen is 2 inches, which is a good size and very easy to read and view images. Being a music phone, Nokia have placed a few music-dedicated buttons on the side of the screen to make it easier to control and change your tracks and volume, with the keypad being beneath the screen. You can get the Nokia 5310 Xpressmusic in either red or blue.

The Nokia 5310 camera has 2 mega pixels with 4 times digital zoom. There really is not much other specifications for the camera, so although it is quite basic, the pictures it takes will be decent. The music player supports all popular formats like MP3, AAC etc., and has an FM Radio. There is 30 mega bytes of internal memory and, with a microSD card, this can be increased to 4 GB. As mentioned earlier the music dedicated buttons are along the side of the screen. It is possible to also get the Nokia 5310 Comes with Music Edition. Basically this means that you will receive free music downloads for a entire year.

You will find the basic applications on the Nokia 5310, such as organiser, calendar, alarm etc, as well as some advanced connectivity features like Bluetooth and GPRS.

In summary, the Nokia 5310 Xpressmusic might not have the technically specification for the music player that we would normally receive from a Walkman phone, but the music player is high quality, the phone is very thin, and the Comes with Music Edition means you will never be without the songs you want.

Sony Ericsson W 880i Black – Experience the Walkman Phone

October 5th, 2009

If you are looking for an ultra-slim and exceptionally light 3G phone then it is advisable that you go for W880i Black phone from Sony Ericsson. It weighs merely 72 grams, inspite of having a stainless steel finish.

The W880i Black has a 2 mega pixel camera and it has a secondary camera as well for the video calls. As far as the memory is concerned, it is huge at 1 GB. The W880i also has stereo Bluetooth and has an enhanced version of a walkman player.

The talk time on the GSM is about 6.5 hours, whereas the standby time is 17 days. You can enjoy up to 20 hours of non-stop music play back with this device. If you consider the other features of Sony Ericsson W880i, then it is very much similar to that of any other walkman mobile phones. These features include a web browser, RSS newsreader, speakerphone, video streaming and a multimedia player.

Though, there are many striking features of Sony Ericsson W880i Black, but you will have to compromise at some places. Like the size of the screen is 1.8”, a little less when compared with 1.9” display on many other mobile phones. However, the smaller screen has an advantage as well, the power consumption would be low and the weight will also be less. In addition to that, you will not be having the flash feature in the camera. Unlike other walkman phones you will not get an FM radio.

In terms of looks, it certainly has an edge as the finish is stylish and impressive. This mobile phone is expected in the market by the first quarter of the 2007.
