The music inspired Walkman range of Sony Ericsson mobile phones has now expanded to include a new model which bucks the manufacturers latest design trends, the Sony W902 has been initially released on O2 in the UK and offers the very best in mobile music features and technology.
The Sony Ericsson W902 is very different from a design aspect from the previous releases from the Walkman range, the last two launches were for flip designed phones, these being the W350i and W980i, the new W902 is a traditional candy-bar format design and packs a real punch when it comes to features.
The Sony W902 incorporates all that is good from the Walkman range, shake control, multiple music file support and FM radio but this new model also offers a whopping 5.0 megapixel camera and up to 8GB of memory space.
This new mobile phone is also 3G enabled allowing for face to face video calling, fast download speeds for new music files, content and applications aswell as access to the latest news and sports headlines and new movie trailers from the network 3G services.
With the Sony Ericsson W902, experience music as it is meant to be. Celebrating the 3rd anniversary of the Walkman range, the W902 includes Sony Ericsson’s popular Walkman Player with support for numerous file formats including MP3 and AAC, FM radio, shake control which lets users change tracks at the flick of a wrist and expandable memory up to 8GB for storage of up to 8000 songs.
In addition, the Sony Ericsson W902 packs in a 5.0 Megapixel camera with autofocus, flash, video recording, a secondary videocall camera, Bluetooth v2.0 and HSDPA Mobile Broadband connectivity.
The Sony Ericsson W902 is made for music. With support for a wealth of file formats, users can simply drag and drop from their PC to the phone via the accompanying PC suite and then listen to and manage all their music on Sony Ericsson’s intuitive walkman player and Shake Control applications.
The Sony Ericsson W902 allows users to enjoy data speeds at an amazing 1.8 MBit/s or 3.6 MBit/s in downlink with this new HSDPA technology. Users can download music, games, video clips and make & receive video calls at the touch of a button.
Users can capture their favourite moments as they happen with the 5.0 mega-pixel camera, flash and autofocus, switch modes and catch the action in sharp digital video. The Sony W902 also offers a huge TFT display making menu navigation, viewfinding and web browsing a far more satisfying experience. Users can also add flare to their pictures by connecting their handset to a PC via the handsets USB port and enhancing their photos on their computer.
Initially launched on O2 pay monthly contract deals in the UK, the Sony Ericsson W902 is expected to be released by further network operators in the very near future. This is a phone that will appeal to the traditional Sony Ericsson fan, those that previously fell in love with the W800 series handsets and other candy-bar format phones will enjoy the W902 for its minimalistic design and ease of use.

Sony Ericsson W980i Adds to the Walkman Range – Sony W980i
October 2nd, 2009
Technology manufacturers are consistently managing to bundle more and more features into their new product launches which is exactly what Sony Ericsson have done with their latest music focussed mobile phone release.
Expending the ‘W’ series range of Walkman phones, the new Sony W980i is the latest flip design handset to be be launched in the UK and bears the distinctive Walkman branding now commonly associated with the manufacturers music devices.
Having released two new Smartphones, two Cyber-Shot phones and a PocketPC of late, its of no surprise that the manufacturer has also launched a new Walkman phone to add to their growing range.
The Sony Ericsson W980i Walkman music phone offers improved stereo quality and surround sound that has not been available in previous walkman models.
The Walkman Player comes complete with TrackID music recognition, PlayNow, Shake control and SensMe features, plus an FM Radio with full RDS support and FM transmitter for interfacing with your car stereo or home hi-fi system.
In addition to this there is a 3.2 mega pixel camera with photo fix and 3.2 x digital zoom, video player and picture blogging function.
3G HSDPA enabled, the Sony Ericsson W980i includes a secondary camera for video calling, dedicated music and camera keys, an internal 2.2 inch display screen and external TFT display. The internal memory is a massive 8GB and as such no expansion is available with the Sony Ericsson W980i, but we seriously doubt you’ll need it.
Not forgetting features such as the web browser, email, bluetooth with A2DP stereo support, flight mode functions and 3D games, the Sony Ericsson W980i Walkman in its Piano Black colour scheme is oddly very stylish and extremely seductive.
This new mobile phone will please many a Sony Ericsson fan as their range of flip phones is not as wide as their candy-bar format handsets, many consumers prefer a clamshell design simply because once the phone is closed the keys are protected making it almost impossible to make unwanted calls from a pocket or handbag.
The beauty of the new Sony Ericsson W980i is that the manufacturer has included external controls for the music player allowing users to access their music tracks whilst the phone is in the closed position, the buttons resemble a standard stand alone MP3 player format by being slightly raised making it easy to use in poor light conditions.
Thankfully, the W980i has not been launched as a network exclusive as seems to be the case with many new model launches of late, this means that consumers have the choice of networks when trying to match their usage requirements to find the best tariff combination.
The Sony Ericsson W980i is a sleek and compact handset with high specification music playing abilities, a good camera and the latest music features, this handset will appeal to music lovers aswell as gadget enthusiasts and Sony Ericsson fans.
Initially launched on the O2 network the Sony W980i is expected to be rolled out onto further networks in the very near future.
