The Sony Ericsson W980i is another great phone in the Walkman series. It includes a built-in FM transmitter that allows the W980i to take whatever is playing on the device and send it to other devices using the built in radio receiver. That means you can tune into your mobile phone from a car stereo, and with the 8000 song capacity, that can make for a nice change of pace when you’re driving, especially if you have to travel any distance.

With the Sony Ericsson W980i you have access to over five million tracks. Though the storage capacity is only for 8,000, that gives you an opportunity to change tunes when you tire of what you have store on your music phone. You can also choose to listen to whatever is on the FM receiver such as sports, weather, news, and anything else that appeals to you. You can even choose to switch back and forth between the radio and the music player in order to have a wider selection of music from which to choose.

The Sony Ericsson W980i also has a 3.2 megapixel camera with 3x zoom and unlike other phones in the Walkman series, the W980i has a flash. No information was available on the type of flash that the camera uses, but the fact that there is one available puts this phone higher in desirability than others in the same class. Of course, for those that are more interested in the music capabilities of the phone, even that may not be of great importance to you at all. Since all of the phones in the Walkman series (W) were built primarily as music phones, SE didn’t see a reason to add high quality cameras.

As the Walkman series becomes more popular, you can see more features going into the phones than there is now. Of course, there are currently more features than one would have thought a few years ago-when mobile phones first entered the market, who thought we would be playing music or taking pictures with them? Sony Ericsson has come a long way with their phones, and with Sony behind it, there are more choices in the music end of it.

As we progress, you will find more phones and higher capabilit8ies in each phone. For now look at a Sony Ericsson W980i review to see what people are saying and what other features they may seek other than a music phone with a high quality camera as well. Find some mobile phone deals, and you will be in a better position to check the W980i and see the high level of performance it provides and make sure all of the features are working properly. Choosing the W980i as your next mobile phone will provide you with hours of musical pleasure and quality talk time as well. If you want the best in a music phone, you want to give the W980i some quality time to strut its stuff.

By: Caroline Telford

Nokia have definitely been making some headway, and one of their music dedicated phones in this market is the Nokia 5310 Xpressmusic.

The Nokia 5310 is a solid shaped mobile phone that measures 103.8 x 44.7 x 9.9 mm and weighs 70 grams. This is one of the lightest mobile phones around. The screen is 2 inches, which is a good size and very easy to read and view images. Being a music phone, Nokia have placed a few music-dedicated buttons on the side of the screen to make it easier to control and change your tracks and volume, with the keypad being beneath the screen. You can get the Nokia 5310 Xpressmusic in either red or blue.

The Nokia 5310 camera has 2 mega pixels with 4 times digital zoom. There really is not much other specifications for the camera, so although it is quite basic, the pictures it takes will be decent. The music player supports all popular formats like MP3, AAC etc., and has an FM Radio. There is 30 mega bytes of internal memory and, with a microSD card, this can be increased to 4 GB. As mentioned earlier the music dedicated buttons are along the side of the screen. It is possible to also get the Nokia 5310 Comes with Music Edition. Basically this means that you will receive free music downloads for a entire year.

You will find the basic applications on the Nokia 5310, such as organiser, calendar, alarm etc, as well as some advanced connectivity features like Bluetooth and GPRS.

In summary, the Nokia 5310 Xpressmusic might not have the technically specification for the music player that we would normally receive from a Walkman phone, but the music player is high quality, the phone is very thin, and the Comes with Music Edition means you will never be without the songs you want.

By: Marc Sam

Walkman phone really is the most popular series phone for Sony Ericsson. The successful of walkman phone is not only causing by the excellent music player and sound quality but also the features that come along with the phone. And the Sony Ericsson W980 that released last month, which is come with the 8G internal memory really make it stand out from the crowd.

The design of SE W980 is terrific. As a clamshell phone, Sony Ericsson W980 has the rather compact dimensions of 92 x 46 x 16.9 mm, with the weight of 100g. There is an external 262K colors and a resolution of 176 x 176 pixels TFT display on the front which is the audio menu visualize. The display is blended so perfectly with the opaque mirror surface. You won’t notice there has a display on the front when it is off. Also, there are 7 touch-sensitive keys below the display which is music player control. So, you can access and navigate your music player without even opening the flip.

The primary 240 x 320 pixels, 2.2 inches display which will appear on the upper part once the phone is open phone, also able to deliver an excellent quality of image. The navigational buttons and the keyboard are below it and you will notice that the buttons of the keypad is in round shape. That is just fitting the design of the rest. The phone has quite some tacky effect to add zing to your listening experience, the clear bar located at the bottom lights up and flashes, creating a disco effect of sorts.

AS a walkman phone, SE W980 no doubt can deliver decent sound quality. The Walkman player is the latest third version which is support MP3, AAC, WAV, WMA and also the ShakeME feature. With the 8G of internal memory, you are no worry about your music files storage. However, unfortunately the phone doesn’t support external memory card. There is no way for you to store your multimedia files if it is exceed the 8G of limitations.

There is some addition in the features of W980. The most remarkable feature of the phone would be the FM transmitter. SE W980 is proudly to be the first phone that provides this feature. You can use it to broadcast your music in your phone and shared to your friend in house, office, car and etc. Other specs like 3.6Mbps HSDPA data transmission, quad-band connectivity, built-in accelerometer, A2DP stereo Bluetooth, 3D Java games, twin cameras for video calling, an FM radio.

So far Sony Ericsson sounds perfect on the paper. However, the 3 megapixel camera with no auto focus nor flash would bring the phone to the downside. Also, I prefer the phone is completed with the GPS function since it become common features for high-end phone. Anyway, every phone has their annoyance. If you just want a phone that can play as your mp3 player role, then Sony Ericsson W980 is definitely can be your choice.

By: Tc Kuan

When purchasing any type of electronic device, consumers have a tendency to trust brands which have long been in existence. The longer a company has been in operation, the better the brand recognition is.

In the case of Sony Ericsson, despite the fact that they are a relatively young company as compared to the mobile phone manufacturer ‘giants’ – they have enjoyed a constant stream of customers. These loyal clients avidly subscribe to the Sony Ericsson brand of mobile phones whenever a new one is released in the market.

A Look Back into the History of Sony Ericsson as a Company

But how exactly did the Sony Ericsson company come about? Sony Ericsson is actually a joint venture between Sony and Ericsson which merged in this joint venture which was founded in 2001.

The company’s head office is located in London and they currently specialize in manufacturing the following products:

- Hi-tech accessories
- Mobile phones
- Mobile music devices
- Wireless systems
- Wireless voice devices
- Wireless data devices

When Two Companies Joined Forces

Again, Sony Ericsson is a joint venture which was established seven years ago. The two parent companies are Sony Corporation and Ericsson.

Sony Corporation is a Japanese consumer electronics company, which is one of the world’s most popular brands. On the other hand, Ericsson is a Swedish telecommunications company.

Rather than individually manufacturing their own lines of mobile phones, these two companies decided to join forces. When Sony Ericsson was formed in 2001, Sony and Ericsson stopped manufacturing their own mobile phones.

Key Dates in the History of Sony Ericsson

To better learn about the history of these two companies, here are some key dates in the history of Sony Ericsson:

1885 – Lars Magnus Ericsson was the name of the man behind the company, and he first mended telegraph equipment in Sweden. It was on this same year that Ericsson started repairing and building their own handsets – which they are still doing up to now.

1958 – The name of Tokyo Telecommunications Engineering Company was officially changed to Sony.

1968 – Following the popularity of Sony as one of the best consumer electronic brands in the world, Sony UK was founded.

1987 – Ericsson produced the first mobile phone for the NMT network.

1992 – Ericsson built more and more mobile phone models to keep up with the consumer demand.

2001 – Sony Ericsson was established.

The Sony Ericsson Mobile Phone Manufacturer of Today

Over the years, Sony Ericsson has managed to etch a name for itself in the very competitive mobile phone manufacturing industry.

For subscribers who are looking for Sony Ericsson mobile phone deals, you do have a lot of options. You can take you pick from the line of mobile phones that they have which includes:

- Sony Ericsson Walkman Series
- Sony Ericsson Cyber-Shot series
- Sony Ericsson UIQ Smartphones
- Sony Ericsson Xperia Windows Mobile Operating System Phones

Whether you are looking for a good music phone, camera phone or smartphone, there should be Sony Ericsson mobile phone deals which will suit your mobile communication needs to a tee.

By: Caroline Telford
